Chargers tripped up by Tivy in season finale
Boerne Champion closed out its 2023 volleyball season Tuesday with a road trip to Kerrville Tivy and fell in three sets to the Lady Antlers.
Tivy won the match, 25-14, 25-21, 25-22, to end Champion’s season at 21-19 overall and 5-9 in district.
The Lady Chargers finish tied for fifth in 26-5A district with Seguin in Kelly McDaniel’s first season leading the program.
NB Canyon (13-1), Kerrville Tivy (11-3), Pieper (10-4) and Smithson Valley (10-4) were the four top teams in the district and advance to the playoffs.
In Tuesday’s match, Cassidy Breuer led the team in kills with 8, Briley Wolff added 7 kills, Brielle Boothe served up 3 aces, Ryann Michalec had 2 aces, while Michalec and Wolff both chipped in with 2 blocks and Taylor Fenton finished with 3 blocks.
Addy Schiffelbein tallied 9 digs, Boothe recorded 7 digs and Samantha Calderon added 6 digs, while Michalec paced the team in assists with 19.
The Chargers will graduate four seniors from the team, Erin Martin, Ryann Michalec, Cameryn Seaux and Raylynn Pitts.
