Geneva, Comfort qualify for volleyball playoffs

Both the Geneva School of Boerne and Comfort volleyball teams qualified for the playoffs in their respective classifications.

The Eagles defeated Hill Country Christian Tuesday to clinch fifth place in the district and qualify for the TAPPS playoffs.

Geneva won Tuesday’s match, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-16, and opened the playoffs Thursday at home against Cyprus Christian.

The Eagles are in a district that has one round of league play and then a district tourney takes place to determine which teams advance to the postseason.

Geneva is 16-18-2 entering the playoffs.

Comfort

The Deer volleyball team closed out the regular season Tuesday with a 25-12, 25-8, 25-11 loss to Blanco. Before that, Comfort fell in three to Ingram, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17 last Friday.

Comfort finishes as the fourth-place team in District 5-3A and faces either Wall or Clyde in the first round early this coming week.

Both Wall and Clyde are tied for first in District 6-3A and will play on Saturday to break the tie. Saturday’s winner gets Comfort and the loser slips to the No. 2 seed.

Comfort enters the playoffs at 17- 14- 1 overall and went 4-6 in district.
