Charger water polo advances to 6A regional tournament
SAN ANTONIO – The Champion boys water polo team played in the third round of the playoffs Tuesday against O’Connor.
The Chargers scored a bunch of goals in the first minute and went on to pounce on the Panthers, 26-12, to advance to this year’s Region IV tournament at the Southwest ISD Natatorium on Saturday.
Champion was beating O’Connor 23-10 at the end of the third quarter and closed it out with the 26-12 win.
The Chargers are 22-3 overall and play Alamo Heights Saturday in the regional semifinals at 12:45 p.m.
The winner of that match advances to the regional finals Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. against the winner of the Clark – Johnson match.
Saturday’s regional finals winner advances to next week’s state tournament.
