BISD dance teams perform well at competition

The Boerne Startlettes and Silver Stars and the Champion Charms dance teams earned several awards at the 2022 Showmakers of America Regional Competition last month.

The Boerne Startlettes and Silver Stars and the Champion Charms dance teams earned several awards at the 2022 Showmakers of America Regional Competition last month.

The JV Silver Stars won Sweepstakes and a judges award; showmanship awards for military, pom and jazz; choreography awards for military and pom; second place jazz; first place military; third place pom; second place overall; Line of Champions (some of the highest overall scores for JV in the contest).

The varsity Starlettes won Sweepstakes and a judges award; showmanship awards for jazz and pom; technique award for jazz; precision award for jazz; second place jazz; second place Hip Hop; second place pom; second place overall; second place officer ensemble; third place duet (Olivia Strange and Maysen Lester); superior solos, April Hurley, Lizzie Johnson-Clarke, Victoria Niemeier and Katya Stewart.

JV Charms awards were Sweepstakes; showmanship award for pom; choreography award for pom; third place Hip Hop; third place jazz.

Varsity Charms awards were Sweepstakes and Judges Award; showmanship award for pom and contemporary; choreography for Hip Hop and contemporary; first place contemporary; first place Hip Hop; first place pom; first place overall for small team; Line of Champions (some of the highest overall team scores); first place medium ensemble (officers); superior solos (Brooklyn Kennell, Gracie Matthys, Kensington Van Buskirk, Abbey Caudill, Kambree Beavers, Ana Garcia and Diana Ginther); fourth place solo (grades 9-10) Amy Kochheiser (black and white costume); Top 10 solo (grades 11-12), Madi Young (all black costume).
