SEPTEMBER 30

• The Nest’s open house, Herff Farm, from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet the staff, learn about the curriculum and the schedules offered, and tour the classroom cottages and outdoor play areas.

• First Families Celebration, 10:30 a.m. in the Family Life Center at St. John Lutheran Church, 315 Rosewood Ave. The Genealogical Society of Kendall County will recognize descendants from 13 First Families of Kendall County. The First Family certificates will be awarded at the ceremony. A light lunch will be served afterward. The public is welcome.

• Aloha San Antonio Luau, Patrick Heath Public Library (PHPL) community room from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Enjoy a thrilling performance by the renowned Alaho San Antonio performers, featuring an edge-of-your-seat fire dance.

• Come celebrate Oktoberfest at Cibolo Creek Brewery Company with a solid line up of German activities, beer, and food. A DJ will play from 2-5 p.m. and live music takes over, from 6:30-9 p.m. There will be steinholding, hammerschlagen, and best-dressed contests.

• Join Free Roam Brewing, 325 S. Main St., and other local breweries for Hopstrasse beginning at 11 a.m. on Sept 30 & October 1. Live music, food trucks, special Oktoberfest beers and more.

• Moondance ft. Ruben V at the Cibolo Center for Conservation, 7-11 p.m. $10 for non-members; children under 10 are free.

OCTOBER 1

• Boerne Concert Band: “A Night on Broadway!” at Boerne High School Auditorium, 7-8:30 p.m. Come and enjoy an evening of your favorite musicals at this free fall concert.

OCTOBER 3

• The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jabz Boxing, 12611 Interstate 10 suite 105, to mark the boxing gym’s opening.

• The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at ECHO Physical Therapy and Athletics, 1 FM 3351 suite 140, to mark the office’s firstyear anniversary.

OCTOBER 6

• FUMC Pumpkin Patch opens at the AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, 102 City Park Road, from 3-6 p.m. Free admission, an event for the whole family. Enjoy games, food trucks, and entertainment for everyone. Don’t forget to take advantage of photo opportunities with a lovely pumpkin patch display.

• Adult Night Hike, Cibolo Nature Center, 6:45-8:15 p.m. These hikes are focused on nocturnal wildlife viewing, so hikers can expect longer hikes, using unfamiliar trails, and spending time without the use of flashlights. These hikes are hands-on, engaging, and fun for adults of all ages.

• BlackHawk plays live from 9:3011 p.m. at The Roundup, 531 FM 3351 in Boerne. For more than 20 years, BlackHawk has shared its unique harmonies with its fans. The band has sold more than 7 million albums and scored several country radio hits of the ‘90s. Tickets: www. therounduptx. com

• 8th Street Market’s 16th Vintage Flea, 523 Eighth St., in Comfort, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be more than 30 vendors participating in their “mini Roundtop.” Vintage, antiques, art, artisans, food and wine. It will be a great event for the whole family. Don’t miss the fun.

• Boerne Book Festival, Main Plaza, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This free event celebrates all things literary and includes author discussion panels, children’s activities and more. The festival focuses on Texas and its rich history. Visit www.boernebookfest. com for details.

• Carriage House 20th anniversary party from 4-7 p.m. at 110 Rosewood, suite 2314. Catered Mexican food and margaritas (while supplies last), and live music by Austin-based musician Anthony Garcia. See art demonstrations and talk with the artists about their work, inspiration, and techniques.

• Stars and Stirrups plays at Legacy Farmstead, 27 Nolkamper Road, from 6-11 p.m. starring Isaac Jacob Band, Thom Shepherd, Chad Boy and more. Every dollar raised will go back into assisting and serving individuals who struggle with PTSD and chronic stress, offer new programs, and make necessary enhancements to improve their guests’ experience and their animals’ safety.

• Celebrate the Cibolo Gala: 35th anniversary, Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road, from 6-9:30 p.m. Festivities include a unique farm-to-table experience amid a backdrop with historic places, gardens, wide open fields, shady oaks and lots of space to enjoy with friends. Tickets: cibolo.org/gala.

• Music in the Cave: from JS Bach to Appalachia, from 7-9 p.m. at Cave Without A Name, 325 Kreutzberg Road in Boerne. Joseph Kuipers returns with two acclaimed musicians from the Dallas Symphony, Nathan Olsen and Lydia Umlauf. The trio will meld a contrast of music from Bach to O’Conner -- music composed centuries apart with dramatically different backdrops. • William Beckmann performs at The RoundUp, 9:30-11 p.m. with all ticket sale proceeds to benefit the Bergheim Fire Department. • Kendall County Republican Club, Nelson City Dance Hall, 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Christine Welborn, executive director of Advancing Integrity. OCTOBER 14

• Eclipse in the Park Fundraiser for the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department, hosted by the Friends of the CVFD to raise funds for the purchase of a new firefighting vehicle. In the Park features live music, food and beverage for purchase, children’s bouncy house and free Annular Eclipse glasses. The event is co-sponsored by the Comfort Chamber of Commerce.

• Hill Country Mile Rod Run, Main Plaza, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family-friendly day of cars, bikes, live music, craft beer, food and vendors. Main Street will be blocked off by Main Plaza to celebrate American classic cars and motorcycles.

• Texas Eclipse Ring of Fire Run, from Boerne Main Plaza. Race options include distances from a 0.5-mile to a 13.1-mile run. All races include an afterparty, complete with eclipse glasses. Register at www.scallywompus.com

OCTOBER 21

• Boerne Area Model Society annual Fall Fun Fly at Joshua Springs Park and Natural Area. The event will have radio- controlled aircraft and pilots from the Boerne, San Antonio, and Kerrville area flying their aircraft, small to large, prop-driven planes to EDF (electric ducted fan) jets and helicopters. A raffle and silent auction are planned. This is an Academy of Model Aeronautics- sanctioned event.

• The Kendall County Historical Commission dedicate a Texas Historical Commission marker for the Wren Cemetery, 50 Spring Creek Road, at 10 a.m.
