100 Club beneficiary of Tour de Boerne funds
The fifth annual Tour de Boerne Charity Bike Ride attracted more than 950 cyclists to its three courses and raised thousands of dollars for area charities.
The June 24 event featured three courses of varying distance: the Coffee Hollow Rollers biked 25 miles; the Comfort route traveled 39 miles and took in scenic Comfort; and the Luckenbach course tested the endurance of top bike riders, engaging them in a challenging 62-mile course to the famed town.
The 100 Club of Kendall County was among the charities receiving checks from the event, as 100 percent of the proceeds go to support charities and worthy organizations in the Kendall County area.
100 Club President Laura Anderson joined Boerne Police Department Lt. James Schmidt and Will Stripling, both 100 Club board members, on Sept. 21 at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church to receive a Tour check for $5,000 to support the organization.
The organization’s mission, its website states, is to “engage in all activities necessary, useful, or expedient to encourage, promote and further augment the safe and effective Law Enforcement, Firefighting and Emergency Medical services in our primary service area” by supporting first responders and their families.
The 100 Club board members were joined at the check presentation by Tour de Boerne representatives Greg Jaeger, David Beck and several Tour riders, participants and volunteers.
Other benefactors included Open Trails Ranch, Hill Country Family Services, Blessings in a Backpack, Coats for Kids-Operation Warm, Coats for Kids-Hill Country Daily Bread, Hill Country Boys & Girls Club, Waring Volunteer Fire Department, and Sisterdale Volunteer Fire Department.
