Boerne ISD tennis teams play district matches

Both Boerne ISD tennis programs were in action this week as they continued district play.

The Chargers and Hounds both picked up resounding district wins as they get ready to start team tennis playoffs next month.

BHS took on Canyon Lake in a district match Wednesday and then the Greyhounds played Smithson Valley in a non-district match Friday.

The Chargers have been busy and played New Braunfels Canyon last weekend and then visited Kerrville Tivy Tuesday. They host Wagner this coming Tuesday at the Charger courts, 4 p.m.

Champion

The Chargers picked up three district wins in a matter of four days and one of them came without the team hitting the courts.

Champion earned a 10-0 default win over Seguin because the Matadors didn’t have enough players to form a team last Saturday. The Chargers also defeated New Braunfels Canyon, 12-0, Saturday and then topped Kerrville Tivy Tuesday of this week, 10-4.

The Chargers are 10-3 overall and 5-0 in district.

Boerne High

The Boerne High stringers hosted Canyon Lake in a district contest Wednesday at the Greyhound courts and handled the Hawks handily.

It was Boerne’s first match in 12 days but the BHS team didn’t show any rust and defeated Canyon Lake, 19-0.

The Hounds are 7-3 overall and 2-0 in district.

After playing Smithson Valley Friday, the Greyhounds are home Tuesday to take challenge Davenport, 4 p.m.
