Boerne Star readies move to new office on Water Street

Boerne Star readies move to new office on Water Street

The Boerne Star is on the move, ready to assume a location closer to downtown Boerne.

The shift to the office front at 215 Water St. starts next week and should be completed by mid-October.

“It was just time for a change, time for a new location. The Boerne Star is growing,” said Thomas Edwards, the executive editor for parent company Granite Media Partners Inc.

“We have a new and fantastic managing editor, we've entered a partnership with Boerne Radio that includes a community-interest show and a sports show, and our circulation is on the upswing,” Edwards said.

The Star moved into its current office space on North School Street in spring 2007. The new site on Water Street is about two miles south of the current location.

The Boerne Star soon will begin moving into its new office at 215 Water St., about a block away from West Bandera Road and South Main Street. Star photo by Jeff B. Flinn.

“But no matter where the Star is located, it will continue to serve its readers and advertisers, just as it's done since 1906,” he added.

Managing Editor Jeff Flinn said he is excited about the move and the new locale.

“This brings us closer to the heart of the city,” Flinn said. “While the move flips our proximity to downtown, it brings us closer to such venues as Boerne City Park, Kendall County Fairgrounds and Herff Park, River Road, Champion High School, and the Cibolo Center for Conservation, with a more direct connection to I-10.”

The location should increase foot traffic as well, Flinn said. The Water Street office is less than a half-mile from H-E-B and less than a mile from Walmart Supercenter in Boerne.

“We’ll be ‘right there,’ on your path to either,” Flinn said. “People will be able to just stop by, instead of having to go out of their way to come see us up on School Street.”

The Star is working with the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce to get an official ribbon-cutting and “After Hours” mixer on its schedule.
