The Champion volleyball team hosted No. 15 stateranked New Braunfels Canyon last Friday at home and the Cougarettes lived up to the ranking as they defeated the Lady Chargers in three sets.
NBC won the contest, 25-14, 25-13, 25-22, to drop the Lady Chargers to 1-2 in district and 17-12 overall.
After winning its district opener, Champion has dropped its last two and looked to get back on track Tuesday when they hosted Wagner. The Lady Chargers visit Pieper Friday.
Raylynn Pitts led the team in kills and digs and finished with 10 kills and 12 digs Friday and was the only Charger in double- digit kills.
Ella Coleman and Brielle Boothe added 4 kills apiece. Coleman served up all 3 Champion aces, Briley Wolff came up with 3 blocks and Taylor Fenton added 2 blocks.
Coleman recorded 9 digs, Boothe had 8 digs, Azteca Crawford finished with 11 assists and Ryann Michalec tallied 6 assists.
