Hill Country Daily Bread Ministry will again participate in The Big Give annual fundraiser, which runs 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, through 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.
The 24-hour period is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families throughout the region, via the many nonprofits that serve those in need.
“We are dedicated to assisting families living in poverty and crisis while showing them the love of Christ. Hill Country Daily Bread Ministry (HCDBM) offers a hand-up, not a handout,” Agnes Hubbard, Bread Ministry executive director and co-founder, said.
“We can provide these services through the generosity of donors and volunteers. We are delighted to participate in The Big Give, an important community initiative,” Hubbard said.
This year, Hubbard said, more families are in need of help. With increased inflation and an increased cost of groceries, families struggle to put food on their tables while juggling the need to pay rent, insurance, medications and other essentials.
Donations to HCDBM go even further during The Big Give. Donations of up to $20,000 will be matched by EnCap Flatrock Midstream, a generous HCDBM donor and supporter.
Beyond distributing food and basic resources, 3,368 people were served through the Ministry’s Family Mentoring program, which launched in 2022. Mentors are matched through local churches to walk alongside the families who need help and are supported by case managers.
