After a last- minute change, Champion switched its venue with Veterans Memorial to open district play at home Friday instead of playing on the road as the schedule originally had it.
It didn’t matter to the Chargers where the match was because they were ready based on the score. Champion swept the Lady Patriots and won the match 25-17, 25-15, 25-20.
They are 17-10 overall and 1-0 in district. They visited Seguin Tuesday and host NB Canyon Friday.
Raylynn Pitts paced the team in kills with a dozen, Briley Wolff and Cassidy Breuer both added 5 kills and Brielle Boothe had 4 kills.
