Tragedy struck a family at home on New Year’s Eve Friday night as 47-yearold Jason Evans allegedly shot and killed his wife, Emily Fulton Evans, while the couple’s six children were inside the home in the 100 block of Ridge Place.
Sgt. Kevin Klaerner, public information officer for the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, said while the incident is still under investigation, deputies are treating the case as a murder-suicide, indicating Evans shot himself after shooting his wife.
According to Boerne Police Department call sheets, deputies received the initial call at 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve from the mother of Fulton Evans, who said she suspected her son-in-law killed her daughter in the family’s garage while their children were in a room in the house. She said Evans had a history of violence against his wife as well as making threats to leave her, the call sheet information stated.
Jason Evans’ two sisters called 911, both stating they received voicemails from Evans saying he was going to kill himself after he shot his wife. Evans reportedly told one of his sisters the marriage was “disintegrating,” information stated.
By 10:24 p.m., reports showed deputies were moving into the house on Ridge Place, which is off Kreutzberg Road in Kendall County near the Cave Without a Name. A deputy reported “shots fired” at 10:27 p.m. Upon entry, deputies found two people down, Klaerner confirmed on Monday morning.
Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home was called, the call sheet stated, and Fulton Evans’ mother was contacted to pick up her grandchildren. A chaplain was sent to the grandmother’s home following the incident, information stated.
Jason and Emily Evans were married in Kendall County in 2005 and bought their Ridge Place family home in 2012, records show. Evans was the owner of Evans Trucking, which was started in 2011, information stated.
