So far in the second round of district play, the Lady Greyhounds soccer team has done a great job of beating teams that tied them in the first round.
On Friday, they’ll get a shot at the one team that beat them in the first round.
Boerne High took care of Wimberley Tuesday at Boerne ISD Stadium, 3-1. The Lady Hounds improve to 5-1-2 in 26-4A and 12-3-4 overall.
In the first round, BHS battled Fredericksburg and Wimberley to a tie, but in the second round, the Lady Greyhounds have beaten those two teams by a combined score of 9-1 after they shut out Fred last Friday.
Boerne’s defense is a big reason for the wins.
“Our defense played really well tonight, denying Wimberley at every turn,” BHS coach Jeremy Shannon said after Tuesday’s match.
This coming Friday, Boerne faces Davenport, the only team that beat them in the first round. Davenport won that match, 2-1.
On Tuesday, Hannah Bowen finished with 2 goals and Gigi Hernandez added another goal, while Madeline Davis and Kylie Combs both picked up assists in the match.
