Lleanna Griffin Brinsmade succinctly describes herself as Texas-born, alumnus of Trinity University, and self-taught.
After retiring from a career in project management she discovered her passion for art, specifically portraits. Her current focus explores a variety of skin tones while capturing the essence of her subjects, allowing their inner joy to shine through.
Her artistic journey came to an abrupt two-year halt due to injuries sustained in a car accident. However, Brinsmade emerged with a profound sense of gratitude for the second chance, considering it a precious gift and a testament of resilience, and the power of creativity to heal and inspire.

‘Arts Partner’ coming up in Comfort
Mark your calendars for Arts Partner, Studio Comfort Texas, and the upcoming exhibit, Networks, featuring two locals, Cara Hines and Mike Martin, from Sept. 8-Oct. 29.
A brunch reception is set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9.
Humans and trees are both sustained by unseen networks -- trees, by a microscopic underground network of fungus, by pheromones through the air and by slow-pulsing electrical signals; and humans, through emotional and energetic signals.
Working with and supporting these networks allows us to support and sustain entire systems. Ignoring them can have devastating effects.
Martin’s collagraphs celebrate his strong personal connections with trees, while Hines explores concepts of memory: temporal and energetic networks connecting family, nature and land.
