Charger water polo splits with Mules to open district

SAN ANTONIO – Both the Champion boys and girls water polo teams opened district play Saturday at the Northside Aquatics Center against Alamo Heights.

SAN ANTONIO – Both the Champion boys and girls water polo teams opened district play Saturday at the Northside Aquatics Center against Alamo Heights.

It was mixed results for the Chargers after the boys beat the Mules and the Lady Chargers fell to the Mules.

The Champion boys defeated the Mules 19-15 and was up 7-0 in the first quarter before they started moving players in and out. The Chargers improved to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in district.

The Lady Chargers fell to the Mules, 13-9, and suffered their first loss of the year. The Champion girls are 6-1 overall and 0-1 in district.

Coach Scott Slay said they played a team from out of town earlier Saturday at Northside but called it a scrimmage.

Champion is scheduled to play Health Careers and Marshall this Saturday, also at Northside.
