The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball is playing in the TAPPS 5A girls state tournament in Waco starting Friday.
If the Eagles win Friday’s contest against Second Baptist School, they’ll advance to the state championship game on Saturday against the winner of the Southwest Christian School and Dallas Christian School.
Geneva is 28-2 overall and is No. 1 in the TAPPS 5A rankings. They defeated The Woodlands Christian Academy last Saturday to advance to the TAPPS state semifinals.
The Eagles beat the Warriors, 39-25. It was a close game and Geneva was winning 13-10 after one quarter. They won the second, 8-4, and went into halftime with a 21-14 lead.
Both teams scored 6 in the third and the score was 27-20. The Eagles closed it out with a strong fourth quarter after they outscored The Woodlands, 12-5, to put it away.
Chloe Donnell was the only Geneva player in double figures with 11 points, Alexa Elizondo added 9, Micah Howard had 8, Sydney Griffey tallied 6, Brynn Riebel scored 3 and Maegan Riebel finished with 2.
Maegan Riebel and Griffey both grabbed 6 rebounds, Riebel came up with 4 steals and Elizondo dished out 3 assists and 3 steals.
