Boerne Champion took 6A Steele to five sets in non- district volleyball action but ultimately fell to the Lady Knights in Tuesday’s back-and-forth match.

The Lady Chargers won the first set, Steele took the second, Champion claimed the third, but the Lady Knights closed it out by winning the fourth and fifth sets.

Steele recorded the 14- 25, 25- 22, 17- 25, 25-23, 15-12 win to drop the Lady Chargers to 11-4 overall.

Champion will play in its final regular-season tournament of the year and is entered in the Smithson Valley Texas Showdown this weekend.

Raylynn Pitts continues to play well and finished with 16 kills and Briley Wolff added 11 kills. Brielle Boothe served it well and dropped in 4 aces, while Azteca Crawford, Ryann Michalec and Wolff all served up 2 aces.

Wolff and Taylor Fenton recorded 3 blocks apiece, Cassidy Breuer came up with 2 blocks, Cameryn Seaux paced the Chargers in digs with 21, Crawford had 14 digs and Boothe recorded 10 digs, while Michalec and Pitts tallied 7 digs apiece.

Crawford registered 20 assists and Michalec added 17 assists.
