BHS cheerleaders shine at UCA camp

Boerne High varsity and JV cheer squads went to Universal Cheer Association camp at the University of Texas in Austin this summer.

Varsity cheerleaders earned UCA’s highest daily award of gold superior or 1st-place ribbons for all categories; sideline/cheer and dance.

In the finals, they received 1st-place All-Around in Game Day, 2nd-place Sideline, 2nd-place Cheer and 2nd-place in Dance. Additionally, they received spirit sticks every day.

BHS varsity and JV mascots, Rowdy, Roxy and Little Roxy received spirit sticks and were awarded Leadership, Miss Shineshine and Character awards, respectively.

Varsity captain Jocelyn Decker and varsity mascot Rowdy were the recipients of the “Pin It Forward” award by UCA staff which is given to 15 individual campers for stepping up to be a leader by setting a good example for their peers.

The following cheerleaders were named UCA’s All-American cheerleaders: Varsity – Jocelyn Decker, Teagan Wendland, Ella Whidbee, Ellison Cockrell, Brinley Wilson, Suzanne Vandeberg, Ellie Christianson and Ansley Busbee.

JV All-American cheerleaders were Macey Edge, Lainie Moore, and Madison Weber. “Camp is always a great indicator of how the upcoming season will go. That being said I’m looking forward to this year with this incredibly hardworking squad, especially after doing so well against harder competition at camp,” said Decker.
