The Champion tennis team had a busy week last week and played three matches, all at home – and won all three.

On Thursday, the Chargers played their first district match of the season, defeating Judson Veterans Memorial, 19-0.

On Saturday, the tennis team competed with Flour Bluff in a battle of state-ranked teams. The Chargers entered as the No. 10 ranked 5A team in the state and Flour Bluff came in as No. 18. (The Chargers are No. 1 in the region and the Hornets are No. 2 in the region.)

Champion won Saturday’s match, 10-4. Later that day, the Chargers challenged 6A Brennan and defeated the Bears in the heat of the day, 14-5.

Champion is 4-0 for the year and 1-0 in district.

The team continues play Friday in the Northside ISD Gold Tournament.
