The Kendall County Women’s Shelter’s annual Charity Clay Shoot at Joshua Creek Ranch raised $36,220 for victims of domestic violence, according to shelter officials.

The Kendall County Women’s Shelter’s annual Charity Clay Shoot at Joshua Creek Ranch raised $36,220 for victims of domestic violence, according to shelter officials.

Supporters and donors showed up Aug. 11 at the ranch to help the shelter raise funds for its mission, supporting parents and children of Bexar, Comal and Kendall counties as they begin to build new lives, free of abuse.

“One in four women and one in seven men will experience domestic abuse during their lifetime,” said Brooke House, executive director of the Kendall County Women’s Shelter. “This means that some of us here at this ranch have or will be affected by domestic violence.”

House said events such as the Charity Clay Shoot help the shelter enhance life-changing programs to prevent domestic violence and allow clients to receive lifesaving services at no cost In 2022 the shelter provided 7,633 nights of safety to 338 clients and 27 pets which would not have been possible without such financial and program support. The shelter also provided 5,845 hours of client advocacy to help survivors and their children grow in a healthy and safe environment.

Next up for the shelter and its supporters is the third annual Gary Rich Golf Classic on Oct. 30 at Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club. All proceeds benefit the shelter’s mission and reach.
