The Boerne High tennis program opened its 2023 season Tuesday at home against S.A. Johnson to start the year.
The 6A Jaguars won the match 12-7 to start off the Greyhounds at 0-1.
BHS’s match last weekend with Uvalde was called off because of the Coyotes coaches contracting COVID.
Boerne High was back on the court this weekend by hosting Brennan at 9 a.m. and Flour Bluff at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Those two schools will also play at Champion on Saturday as well.
The Chargers were in action Thursday against Judson and will play Flour Bluff Saturday.
State rankings
The first state rankings by the Texas Tennis Coaches Association came out this week and both Boerne ISD teams are listed.
In 4A, Boerne High is No. 3 in the state behind Wimberley and Lindale. In Region IV, BHS is second behind the Texans.
Champion is ranked No. 10 in the state in 5A and No. 1 in Region IV although Alamo Heights is not listed since their coach isn’t a member of TTCA.
Flour Bluff is No. 2 in the region No. 18 in the state.
