• Art in Conservation: Watercolor Class, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Herff Farm. • Nature Immersion Walk, 9 –11 a.m., Cibolo Nature Center, 140 City Park Road. On Nature Immersion Walks at The Cibolo, a certified forest therapy guide will lead participants in gentle mindfulness practices along the Woodland Trail, helping them tune into the present moment and cultivate a connection with the natural world around them. • Live Jazz with the Ducks, 5:30-8 p.m., at Dodging Duck Brewhaus, 402 River Road in Boerne. Join the Dodging Duck Brewhaus every Sunday for a night filled with cold beer, tasty food a live jazz music.

• Herff Farm Bird Survey, Herff Farm, 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Volunteers will help identify and count bird species in the riparian, savannah and human structure habitats of Herff Farm and submit findings to eBird (on online database administered by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology). There will be several miles of walking on generally flat ground. All levels of birding experience are welcome. This is a good opportunity to practice and expand birding skills. • Buffalo Run Club, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Free Roam Brewing Company, at 325 S. Main St. This is a free, all-levels run club that will take place every Monday at 6:30 and 7 p.m. The 5K (3.1 mile out & back) course will be open for 60 minutes and include water stations along the way so you can stay hydrated while walking, jogging or running. Alateen, 7-8 p.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church, 315 Rosewood Ave. This is the inaugural meeting of the Alateen Group in Boerne. The group is a fellowship of young Al-Anon members, usually teenagers, whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. The meeting is open to any such affected teens, 13-19.

• Ribbon-cutting 11:30 a.m.-noon at Cutie Patootie, 233 S. Main St. No. D. Join a ribbon-cutting celebrating Cute Patootie’s anniversary of their new owners. They have a 17-year legacy of providing quality gently used children’s clothing, toys and accessories, as well as offering an effective middleman for families wanting to pursue consignment.
• Art After Hours: Stained Glass Candle Holder Part 1, from 7-9 p.m., at The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Centers, 102 City Park Road. Building on your three-dimensional stained-glass exploration, in this class, participants will fabricate a beveled glass candleholder. Practice traditional stained-glass techniques of cutting, foiling, soldering, and finishing. Immerse yourself in an old-world art form, in this two-part class. $35 fee for the class.

• Active Movement: Qigong, 10-11 a.m. in the PHPL community room. Join LaVada Smith as she guides attendees through the ancient meditative, easy movement practice of Qigong. Dress comfortably; no special equipment or mats needed. The program is part of the Silver Library Initiative.
UPCOMING: AUGUST 26 -27
• Hill Country’s Got Talent show auditions, at Boerne Community Theatre. Auditions are set 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 26, and 1-5 p.m. August 27. The BCT annual talent show and fundraiser is for all ages and skills. From dancers to singers, gymnasts to musicians, comics to mimes -- all are welcome. Two competition categories: 17 & under, and 18-and-over. Winners in each group receive $500 for first, $350 for second, and $250 for third.
SEPTEMBER 08
• “Cultivate: Earth Friendly Gardening and Landscaping Sessions,” online from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Bexar County Master Gardeners (BCMG) is hosting this free, online biannual gardening workshop. These free classes are led by experts from Texas AgriLife Extension and BCMG. With such extreme temperatures, it is a challenge to know what to plant and how much to water. Attendees will be able to implement up-to-date recommendations in their fall landscapes and ask questions of the presenters. Sign-up is available at: bexarmg.org.
