Boerne Community Theatre is now holding auditions for its seventh annual talent show and fundraising event.
“Hill Country’s Got Talent” auditions are slated Saturday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 27 from 1-5 p.m. at the theatre, 907 E. Blanco Road in Boerne.
The curtain goes up on the show Oct. 21 at the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Prizes are $500 for first, $250 for second and $100 for third in each of two categories, 17 and under, and 18-and-up.
From dancers to singers, gymnasts to musicians, comics to mimes, athletes to performers — all are welcome, organizers said.
Sponsorships are being sought for show night, which includes the talent show, a dinner, and silent auction. VIP seating is special seating at the event.

Alateen group forming, meets Monday
Alateen, a fellowship of teens whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking, is forming and meets Monday, Aug. 21.
Alateen is designed to bring together teens-youth to share experiences, discuss difficulties, and encourage one another, according to group organizers.
Meetings are being held 7-8 p.m. every Monday, starting Aug. 21, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 315 Rosewood Ave.
Meetings are open to 13-19-year-olds who have been affected by someone else’s drinking or substance abuse. For details, call 469-263-6025 or email: [email protected].
Boerne ISD sets speaker series topics, dates
The Boerne Independent School District will host its Parent and Community Education Speaker Series, which will feature informational sessions with guest speakers to discuss issues and potential dangers in our community.
The first event in the speaker series, a feature discussion on “Helping Kids Cope,” is set Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 6-7 p.m. in the Champion High School auditorium, 201 Charger Blvd.
The discussion will highlight student stress, anxiety, depression, and other potential issues. The event is free and open to all Boerne ISD parents.
Future topics include: * “Bullying: Signs and Symptoms,” Oct. 3, Boerne High auditorium, 1 Greyhound Lane. * “Drug Dangers: A Dose of Reality,” Nov. 14, Champion High auditorium. * “Human Trafficking In Plain Sight,” Feb. 13, Boerne High auditorium. * “Healthy Eating: Boost Your Mind, Body, & Mood,” April 2, Champion High auditorium.
All meetings are from 6-7 p.m. and on Tuesday evenings.
The goal of the Parent and Community Education Series is to inform parents of potential dangers in our community, as well as to hear from experts in the field at each event.
