Boerne ISD prides itself on being a reflection of our communities.
Have you ever wondered how we accomplish this goal? A new initiative that we will implement in the 2023-24 school year is The Boerne ISD Community Leadership Academy (CLA), which will give you a sneak peek into how this is done.
The BISD CLA is open to citizens who wish to build their understanding of Boerne ISD. This program is much like the Boerne Chamber Leadership Academy, or the Citizen’s Fire and Police academies.
The BISD CLA program consists of five, half-day sessions from October to March during the 2023-2024 school year. The agendas for these sessions will include tours of campus and district facilities, as well as opportunities to visit with school board members, administrators, and staff.
Each session will take place in the Boerne ISD board room, 235 Johns Road, and run 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. CLA session dates are: Oct. 12; Nov. 2; Jan. 11, 2024; Feb.1; and March 7.
Participants will learn about the board of trustees’ roles in making BISD fiscally and academically exceptional, district operations and the impact on the education of students, as well as district programs and curriculum that are chosen to support students academically.
Some of the topics to be covered in the program are district budgeting and expenditure procedures; student and staff safety programs and protocols; district whole-child approach to the educational experience; biliteracy programs; and college and career readiness, including career and technical education opportunities for students.
This academy is free and open to those who reside in or own/operate a business within the district boundaries. The capacity of the program is limited, and the deadline to submit an application is Friday, Sept. 1.
