Boerne Community Theatre is moving to a calendar- year season with 2024. The theatre is extending its 2022-23 season to include three more shows plus a Christmas-themed fundraiser.
Opening on Aug. 25 will be Joe Simonelli’s “Half-Baked,” a comedy about two couples who retire to Florida and open a café. When success does not come easily, they plot various ways to increase revenue -- and not all of them are legal.
Throw in an old boyfriend who is now a cop and a Latvian loan shark, and there’s trouble on the horizon.
Director Allen Rudolph brings a cast of familiar, as well as new, faces to the BCT stage.
On the same weekend Half-Baked opens, BCT has auditions for “The Hill Country’s Got Talent.” Auditions run 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27. Reserve a slot on the website using the HCGT tab.
The theatre company will have auditions for the October production of “Dracula Bites,” a comedy directed by Jerry Watson. They will be held on Sunday and Monday, Aug. 27-28, both at 7 p.m. Scripts are available for 48-hour checkout at the theatre.
BCT welcomes and encourages volunteers, on stage or off. Want to see shows for free: Volunteer. BCT asks for an email address, so it can alert potential volunteers to opportunities to work front of house, run lights and sound, help with the stage crew, build and paint the sets, and more.
All BCT actors are volunteers. Community theatre provides a healthy outlet and safe place for people looking to make new friends and participate in something creative.

Dracula may bite but we don’t.
