BISD track and field teams open season

The Champion track and field team opened its 2022 season at the Northside ISD meet where the varsity girls finished with 126 points for 2nd and the boys were 3rd with 132 points.

Boerne High was at Hondo where the athletes were self-time by their coaches. New BHS coach Chris Carter said he didn’t have times to report.

Champion and Boerne were scheduled to compete last Saturday at the Boerne ISD meet but it was called off due to the weather. The second Boerne ISD meet is scheduled for Thursday at the stadium.

Champion Girls

Chachi Gonzales and Kate Williams went 1-2 in the 1600-meter run with times of 5:02 and 5:35, while Grace Flores was 5th with a 5:51.

Williams won the 3200 with an 11:43.12, Kynley Albright took 3rd and Grace Flores was 4th with times of 12:01 and 12:11.

Reagan Burkey finished 6th in the 200 dash with a 28.64, Riley Burkey came in 3rd in the 400 with a 1:03, while in the 800, Chachi Gonzales won the race after clocking in at 2:16 and Lyle Rideout took 5th with a 2:34.

The 4x100 relay of Madi Meinke, Riley Burkey, Savannah Wayment and Anna Giles placed 5th with a 52.59, the 4x200 of Wayment, Carsyn Bradley, Meinke and Finley Shanley teamed up for 4th in 1:54, while the 4x400 relay of Reagan Burkey, Lyle Rideout, Riley Burkey and Chachi Gonzales was 2nd with a 4:14.

In field events, Riley Burkey went 16-1.5 in the long jump for 6th, Hailee Goodwin finished second in the shot put with a toss of 30-6, Avery Case was 4th in the discus with a throw of 96-0 and MacKenzie Edward took 6th in the discus with 86-8.

Carsyn Bradley went 31-3 in the triple jump for 3rd, Riley Burkey was also 3rd in the high jump after clearing 5-0, Kaylee Crank won the pole vault after clearing 11-0 and Catherine Knox placed 5th in the event after she went 9-6.

Champion Boys

Arlis Adickes took 2nd in the 100 with a 12.06, Oliver Winkenhower placed 3rd in the 200 with a 23.55, while in the 400, Benjamin Blomqvist was 3rd with a 53.30 and Ranger Lewis finished 6th in 54.20.

Luis Tovar posted a 2:05 in the 800 for 3rd, Tovar also took 2nd in the 1600 with a 4:48 and Noah Perez ran a 4:58 for 5th in the 1600.

Ryan Nereson came in 6th in the 3200 with a 10:35, Benjamin Blomqvist won the 110 hurdles in 16.79 and Brock Lewis won the 300 with a time of 41.68.

The 4x100 relay of Corbin Mitchell, Arlis Adickes, Alex Rodriguez and Sawyer Bolli teamed up for 3rd with a 44.58 and the 4x400 relay of Brock Lewis, Sawyer Bolli, Ranger Lewis and Benjamin Blomqvist combined for a 3:33 that was good enough to win the race.

In field events, Brock Lewis placed 3rd in the long jump with a 19-9.75, Connor Warzecha was 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 46-4 and Wiley Wampler finished 5th with a toss of 42-2.

Warzecha won the discus with a throw of 150-4, Benjamin Blomqvist won the high jump after clearing 5-8 and Brooks Jones placed 3rd in the pole vault with a vault of 12-0.

Wheel chair

In the wheel chair division, Ephraim Tonn-Bourg won the 100-meter wheel chair with a 23.93 and also took first in the 400 race with a 1:25.28.
