Boerne Champion played in the shortened NEISD Softball Tournament last week and only played two games, but the good news is that the Chargers won both of them.
Champion improves to 5-3-1 and resumes district play Tuesday at Dripping Springs.
The Chargers won a close one over Johnson, 2-0, in four innings to open the tourney.
Champion finished with 4 hits, 2 from Riley Murrish, who also drove in both runs, while Gabi Vela and Ava Trevino both knocked out singles.
Lily Ritchie scored both runs, one in the second and the other in the fourth.
Carmen Vela only yielded one hit, no runs, while striking out 6 and walking 4 to earn the win from the circle.
Up next, the Chargers recorded a 9-3 win over Harlandale. The Lady Indians scored 3 in the first but Champion shut them down the rest of the way and plated 2 in the first and then added 7 in the third to pull away in the game that went three innings
Champion had 7 hits including a triple by Finley Shanley and a double by Lily Ritchie who also scored, while Shanley added a single, drove in 2 runs and scored twice.
Ashley Ottmers scored once, Gabi Vela knocked out 2 hits, collected 3 RBI and scored a run, Jaycee Bendele singled, had an RBI and scored, Ava Trevino plated a run, Kassidy Kureska singled, walked, pushed in a run and scored and Marlena Spurrier walked, had an RBI and scored once.
Ava Trevino won the game on 60 pitches and gave up 3 hits, 3 runs, fanned 2 and walked 2.
Boerne High
The Lady Hounds were scheduled to play at the Dripping Springs tourney but it was called off because of the weather.
They are scheduled to host La Vernia on Tuesday and then play in the Seguin tourney this weekend.
