GVTC announces capital credits increase at 2023 hybrid annual meeting

GVTC Communications hosted its 68th Annual Meeting of the cooperative on June 28, 2023. It took place at the New Braunfels Civic Center, where attendees gathered in person while simultaneously being broadcasted via live stream for virtual participants.

During this momentous occasion, GVTC upheld its longstanding tradition of welcoming both newly elected and returning members to its esteemed Board of Directors. The cooperative announced an increase in Capital Credits for GVTC members. In a noteworthy move, GVTC distributed its largest-ever Capital Credits this month, amounting to a staggering $8.56 million, surpassing the previous year's issuance of $7.75 million.

The GVTC Board of Directors has played a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term viability of the cooperative within the ever-evolving telecommunications industry. Comprising 15 directors who are GVTC members, each director represents a designated GVTC district in which they reside.

Leveraging their leadership skills and specialized expertise, the board distinguishes GVTC from other service providers and positions the cooperative at the forefront of the industry.

Five positions were open for the 2023 elections for the GVTC Board of Directors. Incumbent George Steinke was re-elected to serve as Director of District I, Position 1, over their challenger Rick Tobias.

Incumbent Jameson (Jamey) Arnold was re-elected to serve as Director of District II, Position 3, over their challenger Dan Gibbens.

Incumbent Clint Swindall was re-elected to serve as Director of District II, Position 5, over their challenger Kathleen Banse.

Incumbent Richard Elkins was re-elected to serve as Director of District III, Position 1, over their challenger Eric Christopher.

Tony Spears, Director of District V, Position 1, ran officially unopposed.
