Behr Joyce Elaine Schilling Behr passed away at her home on May 30, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born April 25, 1930, in Comfort, Texas to Charles and Erna Reeh Schilling.

Joyce graduated from Comfort High School and then married Ottmar Erich Behr, Jr (4th) on June 26, 1947. They resided in Boerne, Texas for their first 40 years of marriage. During this time, she worked for the General Telephone Company and as a bookkeeper for several auto parts stores in Boerne, ironically all in the same building on Main Street. She enjoyed being a part of the Home Demonstration Clubs in the County and was involved with her children’s functions, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Boerne Greyhound Band. After moving back to the Schilling-Schmidt homestead in Comfort, TX, she established Holiday House of Ceramics where she held weekly classes and often was found creating collectable plates for local families and fairs. Joyce was a member of the Comfort and Kendall County Historical Societies where she enjoyed her passion for the history and families of Kendall County dating back to 1763.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ottmar Erich Behr, Jr. and sister, Ethel Mae Evans and brother-in-law, Harold Julius Evans. Joyce is survived by daughter, Elaine Jannis Rice (Greg) of Fort Worth, TX. A son, Jeron (Jerry) Behr (Cynthia) of Comfort, TX. Granddaughters, Kimberly Ann Rice Roberts (Anthony) of Euless, TX, Cassandra Lynne Behr of Kyle, TX and Megan Brittany Behr Shelton (Adam) of Gulf Breeze, FL. Grandson, Gregory Charles Rice, Jr. of Bedford, TX. She will be missed by two great grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor Petrie and Christian Wayne Shelton and two step great grandchildren, Tonie Baylie Roberts Lowery and Paola Elizabeth Roberts.

A service of remembrance will be celebrated at a later date.
