George Edwin “Ed” Sherwood of Boerne passed away on May 20, 2023, aged 93. The son of Baptist missionaries, Ed was born and raised in Brazil until his family returned to South Carolina, where he graduated from high school.

After attending Carson- Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, he served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. Afterwards he studied at Texas A&M, graduating in 1958 with degrees in mechanical engineering and history.

In 1959, Ed moved to San Antonio, where he would live for the next 37 years. He worked for over 30 years as an engineer at Kelly AFB, and also earned a J.D. degree from St Mary’s and master’s from UTSA.

It was in San Antonio where Ed would meet the love of his life, Dolores, and together they would raise four children. After retirement, Ed and Dolores moved to Dillon, South Carolina, to look after the Sherwood ancestral farm. However, the lure of grandchildren proved too strong, and in 2005 they moved to Boerne, where Ed would spend the rest of his life, filled with pride in his children’s accomplishments and love for his grandkids.

A devoted friend and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he is dearly missed by all.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Mission Park Dominion. Additional information about Ed and donations in lieu of flowers can be found on https:// www.missionparks.com/obituaries/ George-Sherwood-4/#!/ Obituary, where the family invites you to share pictures, memories or condolences.
