Martin
Max C. Martin was born on August 24, 1946, in Oakdale, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023, in Boerne, Texas.
His father Gerald D. Martin, mother Gladys Legendre Martin, sister Jerry Ann Winfree and son Max Parrish Martin predeceased him. Max attended grammar school through high school in Oakdale, Louisiana where he graduated in 1964. After attending LSU in prepharmacy, he went to the University of Louisiana in Monroe (ULM) pharmacy school. Max married Ann Parrish Fuller on April 10, 1970. Ann was very supportive in Max’s career and encouraged him throughout. After pharmacy school, Eckerd Drugs hired him as an intern where he worked his way up from pharmacist, pharmacist store manager, pharmacy area manager, pharmacy district manager to Pharmacy Operations manager for the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama Region. He was also the Vice President of liquor for Eckerd Drugs in Louisiana. Max was active in the Louisiana Pharmacist Association, he was on the board of the Louisiana Retailers Association, and he was involved with the Louisiana Pharmacist Museum fund raising.
In 1997, Max took a job with Mission Pharmacal in San Antonio, Texas and became the Chief Operations Officer in 1998 until he retired in 2018. At Mission Pharmacal he had numerous responsibilities. Max was involved with the Texas Pharmacist Association, and he was a member of Consumers Healthcare Products Association (CHPA). The dean of ULM pharmacy school invited Max to be on his advisory board where he served for 5 years. At Mission Pharmacal, Max led the company in fund raising for various charities like United Way and March of Dimes.
In his neighborhood, Max served on the Highlands Ranch HOA board of directors for 11 years and on the Architectural committee for 10 years.
Max was an avid golfer at the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club. Max and his wife Ann spent summers in Harbor Springs, Michigan at their family cottage. There he enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, family and friends for over 40 years.
One of his true joys was spending time with his daughter Laurel and his three grandsons Max, Graham and Harrison in Tennessee and Michigan.
Max is survived by his wife Ann Parrish Martin, daughter Laurel Ann Griffin, grandsons Max William Martin-Griffin, Graham Parrish Griffin, Harrison Dunn Griffin, three nephews and one niece.
