Marian Jeannette Dunkin

October 21, 1933 – February 24, 2022

Marian Jeannette (Jeanne) Dunkin, 88, of Boerne, passed away on February 24, 2022. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Holt and Holt Funeral Home in Boerne, Texas.

Jeanne was born on October 21, 1933, in Rosslyn Farms, Pennsylvania, to David and Marian (nee Shoup) Strang.

Jeanne was married to John Buck Dunkin for 68 years. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother of four children. She enjoyed being an Air Force wife and living in many places while John served. They settled in College Station and then Bigfoot, Texas, after leaving the military. 

She was happy to spend nearly 40 years as part of the Boerne community. She was an avid painter, horse-rider and music enthusiast. She also enjoyed cowboy action shooting as Stetson Hattie with the Texican Rangers.        

She is survived by her husband, John; her brothers, Norman and Bob Strang; her children, Gaylon and Martha Dunkin, Sharon and Fred Sperry and Donald and Kelly Dunkin; as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Herb and David Strang; and her daughter, Doris Karen Pennington.

The family would like to express their gratitude toward the care teams at Juniper Village and Brookdale Hospice in Austin for their care.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations can be made to Hay Dude Critter Rescue in Boerne, Texas, to honor Jeanne’s memory.
