No. 1 ranked Geneva girls improve to 16-1

Geneva School of Boerne hosted Providence Tuesday afternoon in girls basketball. The Geneva boys team was supposed to follow for a doubleheader but their game with St. Mary’s Hall was canceled.

Geneva School of Boerne hosted Providence Tuesday afternoon in girls basketball. The Geneva boys team was supposed to follow for a doubleheader but their game with St. Mary’s Hall was canceled.

The Provettes had a fast start on Tuesday and were leading early but the Eagles just had too much depth and went on to post the 58-28 win.

The Eagles are ranked No. 1 in the state in the TAPPS 5A Private School rankings according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches website.

Geneva improves to 16-1 overall and 6-0 in district. They visit Austin Regents Friday.

Once Geneva took the lead in the first quarter they never looked back. The Eagles took a bunch of 3-pointers and made 9 of them on 9 of 34 shooting from long range.

Geneva had three players finish in double figures after Micah Howard tallied 17 points and knocked down three 3s, Maegan Riebel netted 13 points and Chloe Donnell chipped in with 10.

Alexa Elizondo hit a pair of 3s and finished with 8 points, Suzie Nilsson dropped in 5 points, Brynn Riebel scored 3 and Sydney Griffey had 2 and led the team on the board with 9 rebounds.

Donnell dished out 4 assists, while Howard and Maegan Riebel came up with 3 steals each.
