“I have lived in the Boerne community for over 35 years. When my children were young, I mentored a few children living at Meadowland. I knew a little about the work they did but really did not have a conception of what it takes to keep this beautiful place running.

I think through the years there have been a lot of misconceptions about the work that is done through RMYA. As Boerne has grown and evolved, I realize that many, many people drive by the property every day without having any clue as to what goes on there.

Through guidance, love, counseling and feeling safe, lives can be changed, and these beautiful children get to have a chance for a good life full of hope.

I believe that the connections and reconnections we made at MOM impacted our friends. I hope that as they drive by the property they pray and ask themselves, ‘How can I help keep Roy's dreams alive?’

We have leadership now with Blair Thompson that can get this place back to better being able to serve these children.

The things that stood out to me most were of course the children and the pride they had in singing beautifully, dressed beautifully. I know it had to have been one of their best nights ever.

The way the whole grounds staff took such pride in getting the pool house into a place that we could have this beautiful evening was also so very special. They worked tirelessly, and stayed with Amy and I to make sure everything was just perfect up until the last minute.

The next day I sent a couple of them pictures of how beautiful everything was. They were so proud and so very invested and thankful for what had been achieved that evening.

I think it’s important for these kids to know that people are committed to working hard for them and that they know they are worthy of all things honorable.”
