Hits and runs were hard to come by on Tuesday when the Boerne High softball team hosted Lake Travis at Greyhound Field.
The pitchers and their defenses behind them took center stage as the Lady Greyhounds won a tight one over the Lady Cavaliers, 1-0.
BHS improves to 5-3 overall and is scheduled to play in the Dripping Springs tournament this coming weekend.
Tuesday’s contest was 0-0 through five innings but the Lady Grey hounds scratched for a run in the bottom of the sixth and that proved to be the difference.
Brooke Sivek led off the inning with a single. The Texas A&M-Kingsville signee then stole second and third. From there, Cameron Cooper hit a sacrifice to third, allowing Sivek to score and make it 1-0.
Lake Travis still had the top of the seventh inning and put a runner on with a one-out single but the next two batters were retired and the Hounds claimed the 1-0 win.
There were 7 hits in the game, 4 from Boerne and 3 from Lake Travis, and they were all singles.
Two of Boerne’s hits came from Sivek, while Cooper singled and drove in a run and Taylor Wilson added the other hit.
Ava Rodriguez went the distance for the Lady Greyhounds and threw all seven innings. She tossed 95 pitches, gave up 3 hits, while fanning 3 and not walking a single batter.
