The Boerne High varsity track and field teams competed at the Region IV-4A meet in Kingsville last weekend and the Lady Greyhounds returned home with two individual regional championships.
Tori Adams and Kendall Lemm won their respective field events at the regional meet held on the campus of Texas A&M – Kingsville, and will be advancing to the 4A state meet on Thursday, May 11. Both Lemm and Adams medaled at last year’s state meet.
At regionals, Adams won the shot put with a throw of 45-6.5 for 10 team points, while Lemm cleared 5-10 for first place in the high jump and set a new 4A regional record and improved her school record in the process.
The two first-place finishes earned the girls team 20 points where they finished tied for 11th with those 20 points.
Another Lady Hound, Averi Aaron, just missed out on scoring some points after she was seventh in the discus with a toss of 118-10, while Adams was ninth in the event with a throw of 116-05.
Varsity Boys
The Boerne High boys placed 16th as a team with 15 team points and didn’t have anybody advance to state, although a few came close.
Charlie Stahl finished fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.05, while the second and third-place runners clocked in at 11.03 and 11.04.
Stahl earned 4 team points for his performance in the 100 and picked up a point in the 200 after he placed 6th with a time of 22.68 for a total of 5 team points.
McCoy Bruce clocked in at 15.03 in the 110 hurdles for 5th and 2 points, while Bruce also placed fourth in the 300 hurdles with a 41.34 for 4 more points and a total of 6.
Kaiden Fischer was the only other Greyhound athlete to tally points after he finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 49-01 for the final 4 team points.
