IT'S TIME TO WADDLE

Boerne Art Waddle is back Saturday, May 13

In its 11th year, event organizer Events Off Main and its hosts, Hill Country Council for the Arts, invite you to meet up with friends, converse with artists and artisans, and enjoy the day.

The Boerne Art Waddle runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at an area known to residents as River Road Park, 415 River Road, between the bridge over Cibolo Creek and the old Dietert Mill Dam.

River Road Park is right across the street from several local restaurants and craft brewers. There will be ducks and geese who call the park home there to greet you.

This free, rain-or-shine annual event began in 2013, started by Mary and Mike Morton, former residents, in a neighborhood known as 'the Flats.”

The artists’ gathering was named for the ducks of Boerne's Cibolo Creek.

There will be live music provided throughout the day, a coloring station for the kids and a variety of original artwork to serve as a feast for your eyes: paintings; photography; fiber art; work from our friends at Carriage House Gallery and the women from the Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild; jewelry; wood carving; and ceramics.

Bring home a treasure, find that perfect gift for your mom or, better still, invite her to Waddle with you!

Corinne Breitbach, Boerne Art League Artist of the Month for May.

The Fair Oaks resident was Vice President at First City Bank San Antonio, prior to her retirement in 1987.

She spent years acting and singing in plays and musicals at several San Antonio theatre venues.

Breitbach's painting is strongly influenced by her lifelong love of horses and ranching. Her father was from the Harper area, and the family had ranches in Smithson's Valley and Sisterdale.

The Hill country has always been an important part of her life. Studying oil painting with Bill Scheidt helped refine her talent in capturing the spirit of ranching in the West and related subject matter.

During the Boerne Sesquicentennial, one of Breitbach's paintings was displayed in the Kendall County Courthouse.

She received Best in Show at the 1999 Kendall County Fair for her painting, End of the Trail, and Best in Show the following year for a seascape of the Oregon Coast. Breitbach's work has been exhibited at the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, Kerrville, and she has participated in Boerne's Parade of Artists. We encourage you to visit her artwork currently on display at Boerne's Main Street banks, and the Kronkosky Center. You can view Breitbach's work this month at Boerne Main Street banks, and The Kronkosky Center Like us on Facebook! Check us out at Instagram.
