FAIR OAKS RANCH – Three candidates facing off over the City Council Place 6 seat all vow to bring unique skills to the dais if elected May 6.

Early voting has ended, but those hoping to have a say can cast a ballot 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election Day, Saturday, at the Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department.

The seat is up for grabs after two-term Councilman Roy Elizondo opted not to run for reelection.

Rachelle Garcia, who moved to Fair Oaks Ranch two years ago, was the first to file in February for the office.

During her first year in the city, Garcia successfully applied for a position on the Municipal Development Board and has served since 2021.

MDD boards receive a percentage of city sales tax to fund projects for economic development and districtwide improvement.

“We knew Fair Oaks Ranch was where we wanted to call home,” Garcia said. “We immediately fell in love with the beautiful landscape and sense of community. I’m running for City Council to ensure our city maintains the qualities that attracted us and many others to it.”

Keith Rhoden and his family have lived in neighborhoods close to Fair Oaks Ranch for 42 years, but began to call the burg home in 2017.

While this is his first time running for office in the town, the certified public accountant has served in many executive roles in the finance world and has volunteered with the San Antonio Food Bank, summer youth camps, his homeowners association and more.

“As the city continues to grow, I want to ensure the lifestyle and attraction of Fair Oaks Ranch continues to be a safe place to live and play and is beneficial to the residents,” he said.

Ryan Schnoke moved to the town six years ago with his family.

He is the vice president of a national bank and said his role with the company taught him how areas grow and change, as well as the values that attract residents and businesses.

“I will apply these problem- solving skills to the benefit of the residents of Fair Oaks Ranch and work hard to ensure there is a plan in place to handle the added traffic, water and stormwater issues that come with growth and can adversely impact the city along the major thoroughfares and throughout the city,” Schnoke said.

He is the former president of his homeowners’ association in Crownridge.

The three hopefuls will be featured on Boerne Radio 103.9 FM during The Star’s “Boerne Brew” show 8 a.m. Saturday, April 15. The interview is later posted to www.boernestar.com.
