Chargers carve up Kerrville Tivy

There have been some close games between the Champion and Kerrville Tivy boys basketball teams over the years but that wasn’t the case Tuesday.

There have been some close games between the Champion and Kerrville Tivy boys basketball teams over the years but that wasn’t the case Tuesday.

Champion earned a blow-out win over the Antlers in Kerrville, 71-42. The Chargers improved to 5-1 in 26-5A and are 18-5 overall. They host Buda Johnson Friday.

Champion only had six players score but they had some balanced scoring after four players were in double figures and scored at least 15 points each.

Braxton Burdick and Jesse Peart both netted 18 points, while Braden Baum and Charlie Georgelos finished with 15 points apiece.

Jackson Marshall and Alex Gonzalez hit one 3-pointer each for the Chargers who made eight 3s in the game.

Baum was big on the boards and collected 14 rebounds, 5 on the offensive end, while Georgelos also was in double-digit rebounds with 10 boards and Burdick pulled down 9 rebounds.

Georgelos dished out 4 assists, Peart had 3 assists and Owen Tate blocked a shot.
