On April 20, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Foundation delivered a mobile lift exam table to the staff at the Kendall County Animal Shelter. The donation of the mobile lift table enhances both the safety of the animals the staff care for and improves the health and safety of the staff members who load and move large animals around on the table. The table will accommodate animals weighing as much as 225 pounds.
Kendall County Animal Control Officer (ACO) Charity Barnes commented, “We are so excited to receive the delivery of the mobile lift exam table and cannot wait to put it to use.” The table allows the staff to lower the table to floor level, so that they can safely place an animal on the table and then raise the table to accommodate both the animal’s size and the comfort and safety of the staff member performing the exam. ACO Barnes went on to say, “the lift table will be a great tool to help reduce the stress placed on the animal, as they are being moved from the table to the scale.”
According to ACO Barnes, with the donation of the table, “The Foundation is truly helping to save lives and make the lives of shelter pets less stressful and more comfortable.”
Dr. Steven Rapp, veterinarian on staff with the Kendall County Animal Shelter, added, “In 46 years of practice, I have been in a large number of shelters across this state. This one is the ‘Cream’ of them all. Little things like this make us more efficient and assure us we do our best to adopt healthy pets with temperaments that fit the family and families that fit the pet being adopted.”
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to enhance community outreach while providing additional key resources to best equip the Sheriff’s Office in its mission to protect the lives and property of the residents and visitors of Kendall County.
“We are very grateful to the Foundation, and those who support the Foundation, for this tremendous gift,” added Barnes.
