Marianne L. Conner

September 24, 1929 – April 15, 2023

September 24, 1929 – April 15, 2023

Marianne L. Conner passed from this life to her eternal home on April 15, 2023. Her passing was peaceful and expected after living at Cibolo Creek nursing home with River City Hospice in Boerne for nearly three years, and a brief period of transition before her passing.

Marianne was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 24, 1929, as Marianne Jean Leum, the middle daughter of Marie Wilhelmina Pruess Leum and Harold Leum.

Marianne’s parents and older brother, and two adoptive brothers preceded her in death. On September 7, 1952, Marianne married Stonewall Jackson (Jack) Conner in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later moved to live most of her married life in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

That blessed union produced one child, Mary Ann Conner, though Marianne’s close ties to her husbands’ sister who lived across the street in Fort Smith, also produced tight bonds to a brother and sister-in-law with their two children who were like an additional daughter and son. Marianne Conner is survived by sister Betty Leum, daughter Ann (John) Roache, two grandsons Daniel and David Roache, as well as two nieces and three nephews and their children as grand-nieces and nephews. Marianne lived her life as a dutiful daughter, obedient wife, loving mother, nurturing grandmother, and most importantly to her, a faithful servant of her Lord Jesus.

She will be remembered for her sharp mind and keen interest in people and places, her love of birds and flowers, as well as her terrific conversational style and her works of charity to others in her community.

She will be greatly missed, though the family is glad that her struggle with the ravages of age are finally over and she is at rest in paradise. Funeral services are planned for Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with a viewing 5-7 pm on Thursday April 20 and a funeral ceremony at 3:00 pm on Friday April 21.
