As her husband of 44 years no one knows Nina Woolard better than me.
She has been actively engaged in the community since we moved to Boerne in 1996 with our 3 children in tow. First, in PTO and Band Boosters, then various non-profit organizations, including the YMCA, Cibolo Nature Center, and CASA.
She became involved with local city government in 2009 when the ranch behind our house sold and development started. While we always knew the property would be developed one day, Nina wanted to make sure it was done right.
Unfortunately, she quickly discovered there were very few ordinances back then requiring responsible development standards. After multiple meetings with the developer and city staff, Nina successfully negotiated some concessions.
This experience encouraged her to run for city council in 2011 with the goal of improving the quality of development in Boerne.
I personally have witnessed the countless hours she has worked as a Boerne city council representative over the past 12 years to help make Boerne what it is to today – in addition to strong ordinances requiring low impact development, we enjoy safe, secure friendly neighborhoods, a vibrant downtown, hike and bike trails, great parks, soccer and baseball facilities for our children. We can all agree these are a few of the reasons we love living in Boerne.
However, we can also all agree there are challenges that need to be addressed, particularly traffic congestion caused by rapid growth outside the city limits.
Nina Woolard supports common sense solutions for easing traffic congestion.
Although the mayor does not have a vote (except in the case of a tie) their primary job is to provide leadership on issues affecting Boerne. Nina is a strong, fulltime, hands-on leader who has the experience and knowledge to navigate the complex issues that will make our wonderful town even better.
She always makes decisions based on what is best for Boerne.
A VOTE FOR NINA WOOLARD IS A VOTE FOR BOERNE.
Respectfully, John Woolard Boerne Resident
