The basketball playoffs begin this week for some and continue this week for other area teams.
On the boys side, the Geneva School of Boerne boys visited Laredo St. Augustine on Saturday to begin its postseason and lost in the first round, 82-48.
The Boerne boys tangled with Cuero on Monday at Northside in the first round. The Greyhounds are the defending regional champions in boys 4A and won this year’s district title with a perfect 10-0 record.
The Champion boys face Leander Glenn Tuesday at Buda Johnson, 6:30 p.m. to kick off the postseason. The Chargers are the No. 2 seed out of 26-5A and Glenn is the third-place team from its district. Champion and Glenn met last year in the playoffs.
The Comfort boys open the playoffs Tuesday against Stockdale at Navarro, 7 p.m. The Cats finished third in district and Stockdale was second in its district.
On the girls side, Geneva had a first-round bye and play in the second round Tuesday at home vs. Hyde Park, 6 p.m.
The Boerne High girls advance to the third round where they’ll face Navarro on Tuesday at Paul Taylor Field House, 6:30 p.m.
