Happy reading, Miss Constance Children’s Librarian, Patrick Heath Public Library April sings with Springtime surprises. Birds cheerfully chirrup a morning song. Buzz, buzz, buzz-y bees sing along. Tap, tap, raindrops tippy-tap on your window. Whoosh, whoosh, soft breezes whisper secrets to you. Listen! What do they say?
Yes, April is a month of rhythm and rhyme.
Speaking of rhythm and rhyme, April is National Poetry Month. It is a time to celebrate reading, writing, and sharing poems.
Poetry is a special kind of writing that tries to make the reader imagine or feel something.
A poet chooses words carefully. Each word is arranged on the page so that a message comes across to readers.
There are many, many different types of poems.
While some poems use rhythm and rhyme, not all poems rhyme. Sometimes a poem will follow a certain pattern, but other poems are free form, without any pattern. Whatever form a poem takes, it is sure to give you pleasure.
