The Boerne High baseball team saved its best for last on Monday – the last two innings that is – when the Hound hardball team visited Fredericksburg.

Fred was leading 2-0 when the game went to the sixth but the Greyhounds responded with 4 runs in the sixth and 8 more in the seventh to blow it open and register the 12-4 win.

Boerne is 22-2 this year and 9-0 in district. The Hounds were at Canyon Lake Tuesday and host the Hawks on Friday.

A 2-run shot gave the Billies the early lead at 2-0 in the bottom of the third and it stayed there until the Hounds made their move in the sixth.

BHS took the lead in the top of the frame and did most of its damage with two outs. With two down, the Hounds put five straight batters on with four singles and a walk to score 4 runs for the 4-2 lead.

Boerne was just getting warmed up for its 8-run seventh inning when they sent 14 batters to the plate and took advantage of 8 walks, 2 singles and an error to push in its 8 runs.

The Billies tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh and plated 2 runs and were looking for more but the Boerne defense turned a double play to end the game.

Boerne finished with 10 hits, all singles after Jace Preston hit 3 of them, Cam Johnson had 2 singles, while Brooks Perez, Dylan Perez, Hutson Hendrix, Cale Blalock and Hudson McNew all knocked out one single each.

Brooks Perez, Dylan Perez, Hendrix and Preston scored 2 runs apiece, while Johnson, Caleb Cloutier, Walker Hill and Campbell Jackson all scored once.

Johnson, Preston, Blalock and McNew drove in 2 runs apiece, while Boerne batters took 9 walks, 8 in the seventh inning.

Landon Lestourgeon was the winning pitcher and went 5.2 innings, while Xander Cloudy and Jake Wright both threw as well.

Lestourgeon struck out 11 batters, gave up 2 runs and 1 walk, Cloudy only saw one batter and fanned him on 4 pitches, while Wright tossed an inning and yielded 2 hits, 2 runs, no walks and sat down 1.
