The Geneva School of Boerne won its third game in a row after they took care of Schertz John Paul II on Tuesday in five innings, 18-7.
Geneva is 5-3 overall and plays Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Tuesday at home, 4:30 p.m.
The Eagles didn’t waste any time in Tuesday’s game and scored 5 runs in the first frame. After not scoring in the second, Geneva plated a run in the third, then blew it open with 8 runs in the fourth for the 14-1 lead.
JP II fought back and had a big inning in the bottom of the fourth with 4 runs and it was 14-5, but the Eagles put the game away with 4 more runs in the top of the fifth for the 18-5 lead.
The Guardians needed to score 4 runs in the fifth to keep the mercy rule from kicking in and did bring in 2 runs to make it 18-7, but that’s as close as they came and the game ended once Geneva recorded the third out in the inning.
The Eagles had a good game at the plate and knocked out 16 hits.
Sisters Brynn Riebel and Maegan Riebel each hit solo home runs in the game. Brynn went 3 for 5, drove in 4 runs and homered in the fourth, while Maegan knocked her homer out of the third.
Madeline Egbert went 4 for 4 and all 4 hits were doubles, while Kate Friesenhahn finished 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBI.
Madeline Egbert was the winning pitcher and allowed 4 hits, struck out 5 and improved to 3-3 this season.
