For more than 34 years, the Cibolo Center for Conservation has welcomed guests into a beautiful natural Hill Country setting for nature education, enriching community experiences and environmental research in action. Every day, we greet old friends and meet new neighbors who embrace the immense beauty and historical charm of our area.
The Cibolo transforms lives through the love of nature. We like to say that there are many “handles on the bus” at the Cibolo. There are many ways to find your connection to nature, and one of the unique partnerships we have helps new residents find their connection easily.
Since 2017, our Community Development Membership Program with Boerne’s master-planned communities, Esperanza and Miralomas, has provided new residents with a complimentary two-year family membership to the Cibolo. With the membership, new families enjoy special member discounts, early registration opportunities and exclusive neighborhood member events. This relationship encourages residents to explore the outdoors and enjoy the amenities of our neighboring nature center and historic farm.
“We are excited to continue to foster this mutually beneficial partnership with the Esperanza and Miralomas communities,” said Leigh Owen, vice president of Development at the Cibolo. “Not only do these memberships support our nonprofit, but more importantly, they introduce new residents to two Boerne treasures – the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm, and it allows them and their families to take advantage of our many educational and stewardship programs.”
Residents are gifted a membership courtesy of the builder and developer. They receive two years of membership benefits and are provided the opportunity to renew their support after that time to remain connected and supportive of the Cibolo.
With the rapid growth of our community, this unique partnership creates a great opportunity to introduce new residents to all that the Cibolo has to offer and educate them on how we care and preserve the cherished green space that creates the quality of life in Boerne and Kendall County.
Additionally, the developers echo the benefits of the partnership.
“On any project, we work on, we first and foremost look at the community we are developing in and how we can assimilate ourselves and enhance what is important to the members of the town,” Lookout Group President Bill Hinckley said. “Providing green space for those living in Esperanza is a priority and the nature center is an extension of what our homebuyers are looking for, right in their own backyard.”
