Comfort High softball pitcher Emma Wardlaw was basically unhittable Tuesday when the Deer faced Ingram.
The Lady Warriors were shutout in five innings and only managed 1 hit off Wardlaw. With the Ingram bats quiet, the Deer went on to post a 12-0 victory and improved to 12-11 overall and 4-1 in district.
Comfort was at Brady on Friday and hosts Llano on Monday.
The Deer finished with 10 hits in the game and had a big inning in the fourth when they scored 9 runs to kick in the mercy rule. Layla Castro started off the inning with a solo home run. Before that, Comfort pushed in single runs in the first three frames.
Castro drove in 2 runs and scored twice, Kendyl Rust doubled and singled, pushed in 2 runs and scored once, Hope Van Geffen knocked out 3 singles, drove in 3 runs and scored 2 runs, Wardlaw helped her cause with 2 singles, 1 RBI and a run scored, Tori Hernandez plated a run, Katie Haffner singled, drove in a run and scored twice, while Katie Sterling walked twice, pushed in 2 runs and scored two 2 runs.
