The Boerne High girls opened the 2023 playoffs last Thursday on the road by biting down on the Gateway Gators in Marble Falls.
BHS tallied 5 first-half goals along the road to an 8- 0 victory over the Georgetown school. The Lady Hounds are 22-2 overall and played Kennedy Tuesday a t Comalander Stadium as part of a doubleheader with the boys.
In last Thursday’s match, Boerne didn’t score for the first 16 minutes but once they got going, they couldn’t be stopped. Madeline Davis finished with 4 goals and Kyle Combs turned in a hat trick with 3 goals and also tallied 3 assists as the duo combined for 7 of the team’s 8 goals.
The Lady Hounds recorded five goals in the final 24 minutes of the half to take a 5-0 lead into the break.
Davis put the Lady Hounds on the board after she finished a Combs corner kick. Combs then added to the lead 10 minutes later on the Taylor Hudson assist on a cross pass.
Davis made it 3-0 on an unassisted goal and then two minutes later she bumped the Boerne lead to 4-0 after she converted another Combs corner into a goal.
Combs then closed out the half on a goal with less than a minute left for the 5-0 lead.
In the second half, Combs added her third goal of the match on the assist from Katheryn Spiekerman to make it 6-0.
A minute later, Sophia Harper converted another Combs corner kick into a goal for the 7-0 lead before Davis closed out the scoring on an unassisted goal with 18 minutes left for the final of 8-0.
