Geneva School of Boerne hung with the Holy Cross softball team for a few innings but the Lady Knights pulled away with 11 runs in its last two at bats to run rule the Eagles.
Holy Cross won the game 14-3 and drops Geneva to 2-3 overall. The Eagles hosted Randolph on Tuesday.
The Lady Knights scored a run in the top of the first but Geneva answered with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.
It stayed that way until the top of the third when the Lady Knights tied it up with a couple of runs to make it 3-3.
After the Eagles didn’t score in the bottom of the third, Holy Cross exploded for 5 in the fourth and 6 in the fifth to get its 14 runs. Geneva needed 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game, but couldn’t score after the first inning.
Both teams finished with 9 hits and the Eagles were led by Kate Friesenhahn who went 2 for 3 at the play with one of the hits being an RBI triple.
Tessa Murphy had a strong day at the plate and went 3 for 3 with 3 doubles and 1 RBI.
